Sailing into the Sunset
HI crafty friends!
Well, I’m back from California and eager to start making cards again! I wish I could say I came home well-rested, but my daughter is always on the go — and of course, I tagged right along with her every step of the way. The highlight of the trip was a delicious Mother’s Day brunch at Lucky’s in Montecito, and I’m so glad the whole family was there to celebrate together. 💕
I am absolutely in love with this card, and I think it might be one of my favorites I’ve made in a long time! The Sunset Coast Bundle is just breathtaking, and once you see that Scenic Coast Designer Series Paper in person, you’ll understand why I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. 😍

The star of this card is definitely the Scenic Coast DSP. That gorgeous sunset scene — with all those rich purples, deep blues, warm oranges, and golden yellows — does all the heavy lifting for you. It looks like a painting, and I didn’t have to lift a single paintbrush! 🎨
I layered the DSP onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock to give it that clean, crisp border that really makes the colors pop.

Next, I used one of the Stylish Shapes Dies to cut a large circle frame from Basic Black cardstock and layered it directly over the DSP. That stitched circle detail adds such a beautiful finishing touch and really draws the eye right to the center of the scene.
The Sunset Coast Dies are where the magic really happens. I die cut the sailboat and the seagulls from Basic Black cardstock, and the detail on these dies is just stunning. The sailboat silhouette is perfectly dramatic against that glowing sunset sky, and the seagulls flying above give the whole card so much movement and life. I tucked one seagull inside the circle and let the others fly freely above it for a little extra dimension. 🌅

What I love most about this design is how versatile it is. It works beautifully as a thinking of you card, a birthday card, a card for someone who loves the ocean — really, any occasion where you want to send something that feels truly special and a little bit breathtaking.
