Soft Summer

Soft-Summer-Elegant-Eggplant copy

Isn't this heart charm pretty?  It was originally a label pin and is made by 1928 jewelery. Before I go into the card, I thought I would share a story with you.  In the early 90's, I bought a long wool coat and it was in the color Eggplant.   The style then was to wear label pins on your coat and the coat was from The Limited.  Anyhoo, I lived in Southern California and you really don't need a "heavy" wool coat.   One January day, I was waiting for my flight at LAX  (our group was going to Long Island for a meeting) and I felt really stupid because it was like in the 70's and here I was carting a heavy coat around.  Also, the guys were making fun of me!  The next day at the meeting, it started snowing!  And I was the only one prepared – the others in the group really had a hard time staying warm (we were there for 4 days).  Boy, did I rub it in!

Anyway, using this pin as a heart charm and using the color Elegant Eggplant card stock brought back that memory.  I'd love to hear any memories that come to you while making a card.

The stamp set is Soft Summer and I masked the top half off so that it would only have one blossom.  The elegant eggplant card stock was first run through using the dotted Swiss texturz plate.  I then put it through again using the top note die.  You really can't see the pattern but it's there believe me!  I colored in the image using a blender pen and Elegant Eggplant Classic Ink.  I tried coloring it using the marker the 1st time, but it was too dark.  I used the instructions  for how to make a "stay put bow" from All Inked Up.  Check it out!
