A Birthday Card for Sophie
Hi Crafty Friends.
Some of you might think it’s silly to make a card for a dog I had to rehome 11 months ago. For health reasons, I had to give her up, and it tore my heart apart. I know she’s with a wonderful couple who love her dearly — they send me pictures whenever I ask how Sophie is doing. They’ve invited me to come see her, but I can’t bring myself to do it; I’d break down. They also have a large fenced yard, which I don’t, and I know how much she loves running around and chasing balls. I’m sending her a toy from the Kong Company, which I know she’ll love.
This birthday card is a little different from my usual makes — it’s for Sophie, the sweet cockapoo I had to rehome 11 months ago. 🐾 She’s turning another year older with her new family, and even though she’s not with me anymore, I wanted to send along something handmade to celebrate her special day. Sending love to my girl, Sophie — happy birthday! 💕
Card Measurements:

- Pretty in Pink Cardstock: 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
How I made this card:
I started with the base card, folding it in half with the Bone Folder for a nice, sharp crease. Basic White Cardstock got embossed using the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder, then attached to the front of the card.
The dog image and birthday greeting were printed out, cut down to size, and adhered to the front (see above). The floral piece went on the bottom right side — check the photos for exact placement — and I finished it off with sequins from the 2024–2026 In Color Shimmer Gems.
A quick note on those flowers and leaves: they’re actually made from Extraordinary Flora Washi Tape! I applied the tape to a piece of Basic White Cardstock, then used the coordinating Extraordinary Flora Die to cut it out.
For the inside of the card, I added a layer of Basic White Cardstock and stamped the puppy images from the Cutest Crew Bundle, coloring them in with Stampin’ Blends in Azure Afternoon, Crumb Cake, Golden Glow, Gray Granite, Pecan Pie, and Real Red. To finish, I dressed up the envelope with one of the floral images from the Extraordinary Flora Die Cuts.
