Oh Bother, This Card Is Just Too Cute — Featuring the Silly Old Bear Designer Series Paper
Hello my crafty friends!
✈️ A quick hello from sunny California, where I’m enjoying some precious time visiting my daughter! I’ll be heading back home on 12 May 2026 — but before I left, I managed to squeeze in some crafting time, and I’m so glad I did. This card was one of the last things I made before my suitcase was packed!
There are some patter paper designs that make you fall in love the moment you see them — and the Silly Old Bear Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! is absolutely one of those. When that sweet, round little bear appeared on my desk, I knew exactly what I wanted to create: a timeless, storybook-inspired card that feels like a hug in an envelope.
The color palette for this card came together so naturally. I anchored everything in rich Cherry Cobbler — that deep, classic red that gives the card its warmth and grounds the balloon image beautifully. Paired with creamy Very Vanilla cardstock and the gorgeous Silly Old Bear Designer Series Paper, the result has an heirloom quality that feels both elegant and playful at the same time.
The centerpiece is the classic Pooh-with-a-balloon image from the DSP before being cut out and layered onto a decorative oval die frame. Those tiny bees floating beside him add such wonderful movement and whimsy to the scene. On the right panel, two dimensional bee embellishments add a sweet, tactile touch — the kind of detail that makes you reach out and touch the card when you see it in person.
The tri-panel layout gives the card real visual structure, with the Cherry Cobbler mat framing the patterned DSP on both sides. That rich crimson holds everything together and prevents the cream-on-cream palette from feeling too soft. It’s a beautiful balance.
