Sail Away

Hi Stampers

Happy Father's Day.  Although my Dad has been gone for 14 Years, I carry in my heart and mind special memories of him.  Thank you Daddy for all the wonderful memories – they are forever etched in my heart.

I hope that this Father's Day holds some special memories for you and your loved ones.

I made this card for my husband for Father's Day.  Though he is not the father of my children, he is a good father and a good friend to my daughters.  David has been a sailor as long as I've know him and we've had some really fantastic times sailing the Channel Islands when we lived in California.  So I know he will appreciate this card on this special day.  I plan to take him to Tusk & Trotters for brunch tomorrow - our new favorite restaurant.

Sail-Away-Father's-Day copy
The Sail Away Stamp is from the Summer Mini.  It's perfect for the rugged vintage masculine look and coordinates beautifully with the Nautical Expedition Designer Series Paper also from the Summer Mini Catalog.

The image was stamped with Basic Black Classic ink on Whisper White Card Stock.  I stamped it again on another scrap of card stock because I was going cut out the sails and adhere to the main image with Stampin' Dimensionals.  The bottom of the card stock was sponged with Night of Navy Classic ink for the sea and the top with Bashful Blue Classic Ink for the sky.

I used the retiring Spiral Border Punch (boohoo!) to add some interest to the card.  If you like this punch, it is retiring and you need to order it before 30 June 2011.  I also used the old world design paper from the Nautical Expedition Designer Series Paper, another favorite DSP to use for masculine cards.

All in all, a very simple and quick card to make.  But I won't tell my husband that - let him think that I slaved the day away on this card (LOL!).

Rachel
My granddaughter, Rachel, was over today to make a Father's Day card for her dad.  She didn't want him to see it before tomorrow so she would only let me take a picture of it already in the envelope!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Good Morning Stampers!  I spent most of the day in Springfield, MO visiting the eye surgeon for a routine post-operative appointment.  Everything is as expected but it'll be a couple of months before I get my complete vision back. I came home and made this quick card.  It was so easy it would qualify for…
