Masculine Monday

Starting on 9 June 2014, I will be featuring masculine cards every Monday.  This type of card is the hardest type of card for me to make.  And yet, most of the people (relatives) I send cards to are males (grandsons, sons-in-law, nephews, brothers) so go figure! This card is for my brother, Eddie who birthday this year falls on Father’s Day (15 June).  I used the digital image from Counryside. … Read More »

What kind of card do you give a teenage boy?

I struggle with this every year now that my grandsons are teenagers.    Since I know my grandson, Troy,  plays the guitar once in a while, I decided to go with the Rocker Silhouette (Extreme Guitar Stamp Brush Set) for the focal point on his card.   Have you seen the other Extreme Sports Silhouettes available only in digital downloads?  There a snowboarder, a surfer, a dirt bike  rider and a… Read More »

Did you ever think of combining a masculine background with a frilly flower?

The description for the Hardwood Background Stamp reads:  “The Hardwood Background Stamp creates a realistic wood background for cards, scrapbook pages, and more!”  And the description for the Everything Eleanor reads:  “Delicate floral embellishments, frames, and flourishes–the perfect mix for your projects with vintage flair”.   You think you could not mix the two together, but you can! I paired the masculine background stamp with the frilly flowers in Everything… Read More »

Timeless – in 10 minutes!

When you’ve been making cards as long as I have, you learn to make a quick card in about 10 minutes.  Since the card was for an older gentleman (in his 80’s) who was recovering from a fall (broke his hip), I thought that I would make him a simple yet vintage card.   I printed out the vintage car from the Timeless Stamp Brush Set using My Digital Studio (love… Read More »

Happy Birthday Gary

Today’s card is for my son-in-law, Gary.  I used a digital stamp I found at Digistamp Boutique.  I would have preferred to use something from Stampin’ Up! but there wasn’t anything that had hiking in it.  I chose the hiking image because next week he and his Dad are going to Africa to climb Kilimanjaro.  What an achievement and I am so proud of him! I printed out the image… Read More »

Get Well

Today’s card is for a friend who had heart surgery.  We’ve known him over 40 years and I wanted something to make him laugh. This image is from Bugaboo Digi Stamps.  I didn’t do a lot of coloring to the image – just colored the hair with Smokey Slate, colored the polka dots on the gown with Marina Mist and shaded around the uniform with Smokey Slate. The banner is from… Read More »

Lovely as a Tree is still as popular as ever!

Trees, glorious trees! With a variety of trees to choose from, the Lovely As a Tree set offers so many options. Stamp a solitary tree or stamp an image multiple times to create your own forest.  I also used Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set – love it –  contains a greeting for almost every occasion.  And of course, a little grunge wouldn’t hurt so I used the Off the Grid Background Stamp… Read More »

Technique Tuesday:  Masking And so my masculine cardmaking-athon continues!    Three down and four to go! Card for David Card for Michael Card for Bob (see below) Today’s card features the Walk in the Wild Stamp Set and the technique is called masking. What is masking?  Masking makes it look as though one image is behind another, creating the illusion of depth. The image you stamp first is the one that will appear… Read More »
