This card captures a peaceful lakeside scene, with a watercolor-style oval scene of pine trees, mountains, and boats resting on calm water tucked into a Old Olive stitched frame. A die-cut Adirondack chair and cattails sit beside it, giving the whole design a cozy, dockside feel — perfect for sending relaxing vibes to someone who needs a little getaway!

Relaxing Waterside

Happy Friday, my friends! I don’t know about you, but this week has had me daydreaming about lazy afternoons by the water, and this card came together as the perfect little escape. Let me show you how I put it together!

I started with the Relaxing Waterside designer series paper, which already does so much of the heavy lifting on this card. That gorgeous watercolor scene of pine trees, mountains, and little boats bobbing on the water just pulls you right in. I cut it using the Layer Oval Dies and layered it onto a frame (same dies) in Old Olive, which gives it that finished, polished look without much fuss at all.

For the base of the card, I went with Basic White Cardstock and layered it with Old Olive Cardstock and then added one of the patterns from Relaxing Waterside Designer Series Paper (DSP) that contained soft, watery stripes that echo the colors in that scene — those gentle blues and greens set the mood before you even get to the focal image. A layer of Old Olive cardstock behind everything ties it all together and gives the whole card a little extra dimension.

Then came my favorite part — the Adirondack chair die cut! There’s something about adding that little chair that makes the whole scene feel so inviting, like you could just sit yourself right down and watch the water for a while. I paired it with a few cattails (Waterside Retreat dies) popping up from the bottom, which added just the right touch of texture and made the scene feel complete. A couple of enamel dots in that same olive shade finished things off with a subtle shimmer.

For the inside, I kept things coordinated by adding a strip of that same Relaxing Waterside DSP along the bottom of a layer of Basic White cardstock — just a little peek of that pretty pattern to carry the theme through. And since I always love finishing a card completely, I added a strip of the same DSP to the envelope flap too! It’s such a small detail, but it makes opening the card feel like part of the whole experience.
