Sunflower Fields: A Thinking of You Card with a Touch of Texture

Hi Crafty Friends!

Today’s card is made with my best friend’s husband in mind. Her name was Jane, and she passed away last year — sunflowers were always her favorite, and the moment this DSP hit the shelves, I knew she would have snatched it up without a second thought. 🌻

The Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper brings all that cheerful, sunny beauty right into your crafting. These cozy tone-on-tone designs in browns, oranges, yellows, and greens feel just right for late-summer and fall card making and memory keeping. Each double-sided sheet gives you one side of bright, bold sunflowers and one side of warm, neutral patterns that pair easily with all kinds of projects.

Card Measurements:

Base card: Golden Glow Cardstock (8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″)
Layer #1: Early Espresso Cardstock (5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″)
Layer #2: Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper (DSP) (5 1/4″ x 4″)
Layer #3: Mossy Meadow Cardstock (3″ x 2″)
Sentiment: Very Vanilla Cardstock (2 1/2″ x 1″)
Scrap of DSP for flower
Inside of card: Layer #1 Very Vanilla Cardstock (5 1/4″ x 4″)
Strip of DSP: Sunflower Fields DSP (5 1/4″ x 1/2″)
Envelope Flap: Sunflower Fields DSP (6″ x 2 1/4″)

To start, I cut the Golden Glow Cardstock and folded it in half using the Bone Folder to get a nice, sharp crease. From there, I layered the Early Espresso Cardstock onto the base card with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, then added the Sunflower Fields DSP on top.

For a little texture, I cut the Mossy Meadow Cardstock using the net die from the Sunset Coast Dies and attached it to the front of the card (check out the photo for exact placement). I also fussy cut one of the large sunflowers from the DSP using my Detail Scissors, so it could really pop off the page.

The sentiment comes from the Wonderful Thoughts Stamp Set, stamped in Early Espresso Ink onto Very Vanilla Cardstock and cut with the coordinating die from the Stylish Shapes Dies. To finish things off, I added three Golden Glow Butterflies, scattering them randomly across the front for a bit of whimsy.

Inside, I carried the same look through by adding a strip of the DSP to the bottom of the Very Vanilla Cardstock. I continued that same touch onto the envelope flap, too, so the whole card feels cohesive and polished from front to back.
