Handmade with Love: Why Personal Birthday Cards Make All the Difference

By | September 21, 2025

In an age of instant everything, receiving something tangible that I made by hand feels special and rare. It breaks through the noise of countless digital messages. That’s why I make personal (and not necessarily Stampin’ Up! images) for my immediate family. Sydney is my granddaughter and she is very special to me.

I printed this digital image (non-SU) directly from my computer for the main focal point. The patterned papers come from the Floral Impressions 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper, which I used for both the top (blouse) and border elements. To create the decorative scalloped edge on the top, I used the Fancy Borders Dies. The layered floral embellishments were die-cut from the Extraordinary Floral Washi Tape for added dimension and texture.

The first layer was created by die-cutting Basic White Cardstock using the largest die from the Textured Notes Dies set. I added matching floral die cuts from the Extraordinary Floral Washi Tape to both the bottom right corner of the card’s interior and the front of the envelope for a cohesive design.
