How to make an Elegant yet Simple Card

By | December 26, 2013

How was you Christmas?  Are you glad it’s over?   We went to my daughter Stephanie’s house for the day.   Her husband is a chef and he made Christmas dinner.  Was it ever delicious!  We had Tamales (yes, he makes tamales!), Prime Rib with Béarnaise Sauce, Squash/Asparagus Veggies, Cranberry with oranges, sweet potato casserole, spiced peaches (home made, not store bought) and Banana Meringue Pie and Silk Chocolate Pie (also home made).   I think he’s just been elected to cook Christmas dinner every year!

I do not need to travel to Tulsa (2 hour drive one way) to have a Marie Calendar Banana Meringue Pie anymore!

I was inspired by a card on Sandy MacIver’s blog.  I’ve changed it a little to make it my own.  Thanks Sandy!

The heart is from the Flowerful Heart Wood-mount Stamp from the Whole Lot of Love Promotion.  This stamp is available until 27 January 2014 or until supplies run out.  So if you like it, you should get it as soon as you can.

Even though it is a Valentine stamp set, I purposely left out a sentiment because this card could also be sure for a 50th anniversary card.

The heart was stamped with VersaMark, and then heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.   It was then die cut with Hearts Framelits Dies.  The butterflies are from the Papillion Potpourri Stamp Set.  They were stamped with Versamark and then heat embossed with our Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  The butteries were punched out with our Bitty Butterfly Punch.

The sequins are from the new Occasions Catalog.  I love all the gold in the new catalog from the sequins to the washi tape to the baker’s twine!  Have you received your copy of the Occasions Catalog?  If you have not, please let me know and I’ll get one out to you.  You are going to absolutely love all the new items in there.

If you would like to place an order for Stampin’ Up! supplies, visit my Stampin’ Store for 24/7 service If you need any help in placing an order, please let me know.

Thanks for stopping by today and enjoy your day!
