Happy Birthday Kenny!

By | September 2, 2012

Hi Stampin' Friends

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.  On Sunday, we had Stephanie, David and the kids over for the last "official" barbeque of the summer.  We had ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, cole slaw and baked beans – yummy!

Before I go into today's card, I wanted to remind you about the free shipping special this weekend.  It ends at 12:00 midnight on Monday, 3 September 2012.  Click here for all the details!

Today's card is for a friend of my son, Louie.  Louie died 17 years ago and though I stayed in contact with Kenny for several years after that, we eventually drifted apart.  Earlier this year, I found or rather he found me through Facebook!

The sentiment was made using MDS2 and the text function in the software.  I added the star, circles and lines using the punch function in the software.  The more I use the MDS2 program, the more I love it!  You can get to use the MDS2 on a 30-day trial basis, so get it try!  We'll learn how to use the program together!

If the sentiment looks a little blurry, it's because I used the drop down shadow function on the MDS2.  The pattern paper is from the Fan Fair Designer Series Paper.  I love this paper and have used it all up – need to order some more!  It coordinates with the Fan Fair suite starting on page 106 of the catalog. The matching colors are Basic Gray, Crumb Cake, Island Indigo, More Mustard, Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, and Very Vanilla.

The button was attached using the Paper Piercing Tool.  I placed the button down on the DSP, and pierce two holes through the paper and then pull the Linen Thread through the holes and tie at the top of the button.  I find this holds the button to the DSP a lot better than the mini glue dots.

Thanks for stopping by today

Oh Rachel, I am so sorry. This is the first I knew that you had lost your son.

How sweet that his friend reconnected with you after so many years. I am certain this will be a special card for him.
