What a terrific idea!  I will download this ensemble and use it to make jack-o-lanterns!

I fell in love with the Fright Night Ensemble as soon as I saw it, so I downloaded it even though I didn’t have any plans for a Halloween party this year. I figured I would come up with something to do with it sooner or later. Turns out I found a use for it sooner (yay)!

My family spent the weekend up at Snowbird Ski Resort. It’s a yearly tradition with my family, and we all love it! The only problem is, sometimes the kids get a little bored being cooped up in the rooms for that long, and we need some fun activities to keep them occupied. I thought it would be fun to carve pumpkins while we were there to get into the Halloween spirit.

I had a couple of pumpkin carving kits, but needed some fun designs. I pulled up the stamps from the Fright Night download, and discovered they are perfect for jack-o-lanterns! There are a ton of stamps in this download, so I picked the ones I thought would look great on pumpkins, sized them up a bit, and printed them out on copy paper. So easy!

I let my nieces and nephews pick their favorite design. The girls went for the traditional jack-o-lantern faces, but the boys wanted the skull, the spider, and the bat (of course) We taped the designs on the pumpkins and used a piercing tool to poke holes around the designs.

Once the designs were outlined on the pumpkins, it was pretty simple to do the carving.

The finished jack-o-lanterns looked fantastic!

We put them on them out on the balcony on the hot tub with some battery-operated candles.  (The candles with an orange bulb look really cool—I highly recommend finding some of those.) The kids had a blast carving the pumpkins! I know I’ll find lots of other uses for Fright Night, but I was thrilled to be able to use it for a fun Snowbird activity for my nieces and nephews.

What do you plan to do with Fright Night?
