Fun fact: “There’s only about 10 or 12 yellow cardinals in the eastern U.S. and eastern Canada in any given year compared to 50 million or more red cardinals. Though yellow cardinals have been spotted in several states, including Alabama, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, the probability of you spotting one is 1 in a million!
I wanted to use the Toile Christmas Stamp Set one more time before it retired but didn’t want to make a red cardinal so I went with the rare yellow cardinal. I used Daffodil Delight for the coloring and accents and found out that this was the first time I’ve used the Daffodil Delight Cardstock. In fact, the cardstock was still in it’s original packaging! I guess that can happen when you have too much “stuff”.
The image was stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink, colored in using Stampin’ Blends Markers. The body was colored in with the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight and Light and Dark Gray Granite. The beak with Pumpkin Pie and then die cut with the coordinating Christmas Cardinal Dies.
The background DSP is from the retired Plaid Tiding 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. To give the Basic Black and Daffodil Delight Cardstock panels more interest, I used the retiring Woodland Embossing Folder. The greeting was (from the retired Label Me Bold Stamp Set) stamped with Black Tuxedo Ink onto Basic White Cardstock. I then adhered it to a piece of Daffodil Delight Cardstock and die cut with the Floral Gallery Dies greeting die.
I also die cut the panels with the strip die from the Stitched Nested Labels dies. This Is what it looked like:

Rachel, this is a beautiful card with the yellow cardinal. I’ve never seen one, but I’m sure they are beautiful. I had to laugh when you said your pack of Daffodil Delight had never been opened. I found an unopened pack of Lovely Lipstick! I think you are right about it being a sign we have too much stuff. But I love all my stuff and I’m sure you do as well. Enjoy your day!
