Relaxing Waterside Goes Patriotic for America’s 250th
Hi Craft Friends
America turns 250 this year, and honestly, a birthday that big deserves a card that doesn’t hold back on the patriotic spirit! This one came together using the Relaxing Waterside Bundle, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite projects of the summer.
Three Adirondack chairs line up across the front of this slimline card, each stamped in a different color — Blueberry Bushel on the left, Tuxedo Black in the middle, and Real Red on the right. Layering them side by side against an embossed plaid background from the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder gives the whole design that laid-back, lakeside-evening feel, even while it’s dressed up for a celebration. A thin strip cuts across the chairs with “Happy 250 Birthday” stamped on it, and the “250” gets the star treatment with a stars-and-stripes pattern filling in each number. Three little enamel dots — red, white, and blue — tucked in the corner finish things off without overwhelming the design. Real Red and Blueberry Bushel cardstock layers frame the whole piece, keeping the color story bold and cohesive from edge to edge.
Open the card up and the celebration continues! A cluster of hand-inked fireworks bursts in the upper left corner in soft red, navy, and blue-gray, while a “Happy 4th of July” sentiment sits front and center, surrounded by its own little firework bursts and stars. It’s a sweet way to tie the semiquincentennial celebration together with the holiday itself, so this card works beautifully whether it’s headed to someone’s Independence Day mailbox or celebrating the country’s big milestone birthday.
There’s something about combining a classic, comfortable image like an Adirondack chair with all this patriotic flair that just feels right for the occasion. It’s festive without being fussy, and it’s the kind of card that would look right at home tucked in with a Fourth of July gift or dropped in the mail to a friend who loves a good history milestone as much as I do.
