Today when I was crafting a fall-themed card, my husband returned from his routine walk with an unexpected gift: two vibrant autumn leaves. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect, as nature’s palette matched the card I was making.
This is the card I was working on when my husband came in from his walk. It’s a handmade “thank you” card with a beautiful autumn theme. I used the Changing Leaves Bundle for this card.
The main focus of the card is the cluster of colorful leaves. These leaves were made from the following:
- Large Leaf: Splended Autumn 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper (cut and embossing with the Changing Leaves dies/embossing folder
- Medium Leaves: Cajun Craze Cardstock cut from the coordinating die from the Changing Leaves Dies
- Sprigs: Crushed Curry and Cajon Craze Cardstock cut from the coording die from the same dies as above.
A small ribbon bow from the retired Copper Clay Ribbon ties the leaf arrangement together. I cut the ribbon in half and frayed the ends for a more rustic look.
The background of the card is Basic Beige Cardstock embossed with the Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder. The sentiment is stamped. with Cajun Craze Ink. The front layer is adhered to Cajun Craze Cardstock (base card). The overall design creates a warm seasonal look perfect for expression of gratitude.
I used the same DSP across multiple elements of this project, creating a cohesive and elegant look. This DSP was used for the intricate leaf die-cut that serves as the card’s focal point, as well as for a thin decorative strip along the left edge of the card front. To further unify the design, I extended the use of this DSP to the envelope flap.
