This is one of the most difficult cards I’ve ever had to make. My grandson, Tanner, is going through cancer treatment right now and I’m hoping card will let him know how much I care and love him. He is on the west coast andI plan to go see him the end of July.
The image depicts a bold, thought-provoking handmade card with the statement “CANCER SUCKS” prominently featured. The card utilizes the Notes of Nature stamp set, showcasing a branch or leaf motif stamped in black against a distressed gray background that resembles tree bark texture. A weathered, antique-style stamped panel with text and a circular emblem adds an intriguing vintage vibe. The color scheme is mainly neutral with pops of red in the frame and sentiment, creating a striking visual impact.
When I bought the Comforting Thoughts Stamp Set, I wasn’t aware that Tanner had cancer. However, I’ve known others who have faced this illness, so I wanted to have it on hand in case I needed it again.
While the blunt message (Cancer Sucks) is attention-grabbing, the overall design conveys a raw, edgy aesthetic that could serve as an empowering statement or rallying cry in the fight against cancer.
The inside of the card has a warm, comforting design using the Comforting Thoughts stamp set from Stampin’ Up!. The focal point is an encouraging sentiment reading “Thinking of you, PRAYING for you, HOPING with you” stamped in Tuxedo Black Ink on a Very Vanilla background. A leaf extends upwards from the bottom, adding a subtle natural element.
