So Shabby Chic!

By | July 2, 2013

Hi Stampin’ Friends

I want to wish my granddaughter, Rachel, a very, very Happy 7th Birthday!

1-Rachel July 2013

armarOn the way to Wal-Mart for groceries yesterday morning, we kept encountering dead armadillos on the road  AKA  Arkansas Speed Bumps or according to my husband a “Good Armadillo”!  The North American nine-banded armadillo tends to jump straight in the air when surprised, and consequently often collides with the undercarriage or fenders of passing vehicles.  I guess that’s what happened to several of the ones we saw on the road – poor little guys!

Today’s card doesn’t use a stamp set so I didn’t know what to call it other than shabby chic!  I wanted a soft blue designer series paper so I used one from last year’s catalog called Storytime.

Shabby chic

The roses were made using a die (non SU).  The leaves were punched out using the Bird Punch and the retired DSP.  I lightly brushed them with Whisper White Craft Ink to give them a distressed look.

LeavesI scattered pearls from the Pearl Basic Jewels here and there and used a retired button from the Neutrals Collection.  You can barely see the Tea Lace Paper Doily but I cut it in half and then layered under the roses.

The base card is Whisper White Card Stock.  All layers were distressed using the Stampin’ Distress Tool.

Happy Birthday to your little Rachel from us.. She has spunk, the short time I conversed with her, she had me laughing. Anyway stay away from those armadillos. You probably already know this, but they are known to carry a mycobacterium that causes leprosy in humans. Just one of the fascinating facts I learned in Microbiology.
