A Kind Word

Good Morning Stampers

It's a cold 33 degrees outside but sunny so Spring is definitely on its way – a little slow but oh well.  As long as I'm warm and comfy inside and I can stamp, I'm happy!

For today's card, I decided to make a very Springy card (is that a word?) and use the layout from Techno Stamper (Mary Jo Williams) Monday Lunchtime Sketch 110.

When I saw this pattern paper in the Pawsitively Paws Designer Series Paper (Occasions Mini Catalog), I thought of the 1930's.  My husband said it reminded him of the Flour sacks from the 40's.  I pulled out the perfect stamp set for this paper – A Kind Word. Always a favorite of mine, I do not use it as much as I should.  Too many stamp sets I guess (LOL)!

The little girl was stamped on Whisper White card stock using Basic Black Classic Ink.  Did you know that this ink is waterproof?  So if you don't have Jet Black Stazon, you can watercolor using this ink and not worry about it smearing.

GirlI used the Earth Elements and Soft Subtles watercolor crayons and an aqua painter to color in the main image.  I also lightly spritzed the area around the girl using our Color Spritizer Tool and the Pretty in Pink Stampin' Write Marker to give it an airbrush effect – very pretty!

The main image was layered with Pretty in Pink card stock and edged with the Corner Scallop Punch (Occasions Mini Catalog) and the Scallop Trim Border Punch (Sale-a-bration Mini Catalog) which is FREE until 31 March with every $50.00 purchase.  Now who doesn't like to receive free products!

SentimentThe sentiment was stamped with Basic Black and is from the stamp set Matchbox Messages.   I added my home remedy of Glue Glitter and Pretty in Pink reinker to the flowers.  It was then layered with Pretty in Pink card stock and Barely Banana card stock.  The BB card stock was a scrap of card stock I had run through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots textured Embossing Folder.

The finishing touch was the Pretty in Pink Grosgrain Ribbon, folded and tacked down with a rhinestone brad from the Circle Fire Rhinestone Collection (109110).
