Cards for the Troops

Hi Stampers

Today was absolutely beautiful!  In the low 70's – such a nice day in which to run errands.  Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

I wanted to remind everyone in the local area about our card making event scheduled for National Card Making Day which is Saturday, 2 October 2010.  If you live in the area and are free that day, please come on over to help make cards for the troops.  Our goal (Norma Hodge and myself) is to make 1,000 cards to send to "From Our Hearts".

These are some of the cards we will be making.  I'm trying to keep them as simple as possible since we will have new stampers participating in this event.  There will be 10 different designs so a person can pick and choose which one she would like to make.  We are also using retired stamp sets and retired inks/card stock.

A little bit about the organization which is headed by Marti Shea from Jefferson City, Missouri.

From Our Hearts is a not-for-profit 501c3 that began with a simple request by a son for a few handcrafted cards so that he could send “special” cards home to his wife and children while he serving his 6th deployment in Iraq. Today, the initial dozen handcrafted cards have turned into thousands of quality, handcrafted cards created and donated to From Our Hearts every month by hundreds of stampers nationwide and shipped to our servicemen and women serving our country in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Please help us (we need hands!) if you can – we would really appreciate it!

Thanks for stopping by today

  1. Wish I could participate on Saturday but that’s our church bazaar day and I’ll be busy counting lots of money, I hope. This is a wonderful project. Thank you for doing it.
